There is an excellent choice of English modules and I’ve found the tutors have a lot of passion for their subjects.

“I am a student from Germany and had to go abroad as part of my degree, so when a former Erasmus student told me good things about his experiences on the programme at Edge Hill University I looked at the website to find out more.

I really liked what I saw and so decided to come here. There is an excellent choice of English modules and I’ve found the tutors have a lot of passion for their subjects. My favourite module is forensic linguistics which takes a close look at the language used by courts and the police.

I want to be a teacher when I graduate so the module on teaching ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages) will be very helpful. Dickens and Popular Culture was also great, and I will be doing my thesis on the author.

At first I was worried that my essays wouldn’t meet expectations and that I wouldn’t be able to handle the  writing, but I did. Everyone manages, so potential Erasmus students shouldn’t let the thought of essays put them off. Through completing these I feel I have gained valuable writing and research skills, so essay writing has been really useful.

Campus living is a really good experience and I would definitely recommend it to Erasmus students coming to Edge Hill University. There are so many societies to get involved with, an arts centre and a really good sports centre. There is something to do every day and I will definitely miss all this when I leave.

I really would recommend Erasmus, no matter what you are studying. While at Edge Hill you will get a lot of help from staff at the International Student Office, they are always there for you and answered all my questions.

Through this experience I’ve also made close friends from all over Europe; they are my new family. My advice to new Erasmus students is to go out and make friends and talk to as many people as possible – local people as well as other students. The people you meet will really make your Edge Hill experience.”
