“Studying at Edge Hill taught me to strive to be the best you can be”
Edge Hill graduate Rachael Peet has taken the fuel management industry by storm.
Rachael graduated in 2013 with a degree in Business and Management, specialising in International Business, and in her current role as a Training and Business Support Coordinator at global fuel experts Fairbanks Environmental, she relies on everything she learnt from her international studies at Edge Hill.
“I was originally employed at Fairbanks as a Wetstock Data Analyst. This involved liaising with site managers and analysing data measured from petrol tanks on a daily basis, to check for leaks, thefts or any other potential issues. As a Wetstock Data Analyst, I was lucky enough to be given the opportunity to complete specialist training modules to enhance my skills.
“Earlier this year, I was successful in obtaining the position of Training and Business Support Coordinator at Fairbanks. This role involves liaising with our in-house trainer to schedule internal and external training sessions and I have also been called upon to deliver several training sessions, to both UK and Globally based staff, keeping training records of all members of staff whilst proactively working with managers to help upskill their teams of analysts.
“As I have worked within various areas of the business, I enjoy being able to pass on my own knowledge and experiences to current analysts.
“I would advise current students to be proactive in looking for work before they’ve graduated. There are lots of jobs out there but it may take time to find the right one for you. Leaving it until after you have graduated can sometimes make the process more stressful. I was lucky enough to have been offered a role at Fairbanks before I had finished my degree.
“Studying at Edge Hill taught me that you need to strive to achieve your ambitions and never give up – things don’t always happen straight away but career progression will set you along the right path.
“I wouldn’t be where I am today without the dedication of the tutors, they were always there to help when I needed them and even though I have graduated, Edge Hill continue to support me and keep me posted with regular updates.”
