I became a student blogger as I felt it would help develop my employability skills and help to raise awareness among students of the things I am doing to enhance my opportunities.”
“I chose the Media, Music and Sound degree as I liked the idea of studying three disciplines and felt it would help my post-university career options. The course is certainly very varied with a lot to offer; one minute I can be learning about feminism, the next experimental musicology and then be in the middle of filming a music video.
Another reason I chose this course is that I had previously studied media in school and at college so wanted to continue down this route, and music is a subject I have always wanted to study. I aim to become a professional songwriter so need to learn all I can about the industry.
Alongside my studies I became a student blogger to raise awareness of the many things students can do to develop their employability skills, using the things I am doing to enhance my own opportunities as an example. This is because I believe that hearing about people’s experiences can be motivating. It was only through reading about other people doing similar things that I became inspired to become a volunteer and set up by own record label.
I like to write about various aspects of university life in my blogs as well as the things I do to enhance my employment prospects. I feel there are plenty of chances to enhance your CV at university, with learning a second language being one of the things I intend to do soon.
In the future I would really like to pursue my ambitions as a songwriter as well as look to enter teacher training. Becoming a teacher is a career I never thought I would aspire to, but the more I think about it, the more I realise I really want to explore it.”
