Being new to higher education, I had some worries that the course might be too advanced, but with the support that I’ve been given, especially in the second year, I’ve successfully completed and achieved the PGCE.

“One of the main things that appealed to me was that I was able to study one afternoon a week and work around my shifts in the police force. I’d wanted to do the course for quite some time and I knew Edge Hill was highly regarded.

The course was a little different from what I expected – the emphasis is on the student doing the learning rather than the teacher constantly telling you what to do. Being new to higher education, I had some worries that the course might be too advanced, but with the support that I’ve been given, especially in the second year, I’ve successfully completed and achieved the PGCE.

I’ve found that the course is based at a reasonable level, and having received a distinction for the last assignment, I feel that everyone is given the chance to succeed, regardless of their previous level of education or experience.

To anyone of thinking of doing this course, I’d say split the work into bite-size pieces and don’t leave anything to the last minute – the time shoots by so quickly and things can easily creep up on you.”
