Nutrition is definitely an area that is gaining more and more recognition, as is the understanding of what an informed lifestyle choice can make on our health and wellbeing throughout our lives.

“I’ve always had an interest in health, particularly nutrition, so after studying my A levels I knew I wanted to undertake a health and social care course that would enable me to pursue a career in this area.

Because of this, I joined the BSc (Hons) Nutrition and Health degree at Edge Hill University which I have found to be really enjoyable, particularly the topics you get to study which are continually developing. I also like how we look at other areas too, such as biology, entrepreneurship, health behaviours and public health nutrition, which provides students with the opportunity to develop a wide range of subject knowledge and understanding.

I’ve found the tuition group sizes to be large enough to enable everyone to take part in valuable and meaningful discussions, whilst also providing what feels like a personal experience. The tutors really take the time to get to know you as an individual and support you throughout your studies. They are always available to help with any queries you may have, whether this be with your assignments or work experience.

A really good part of the course is the opportunity to undertake placements that enable us to gain experience of the careers we are looking to enter once we graduate. This is invaluable in enabling us to put into practice what has been learnt in theory, as well as gain a valuable insight into how various organisations work.

Nutrition is definitely an area that is gaining more and more recognition, as is the understanding of what an informed lifestyle choice can make on our health and wellbeing throughout our lives. I’m now in the process of applying for postgraduate diplomas and masters degrees in dietetics, with the aim of becoming a registered dietitian after that.”
