Laura Mills

BA (Hons) Television Production Management

I’m really passionate about working in children’s television and over the summer had the privilege to work for the BBC.

“I chose this course because it seemed really suited to the type of person I am – organised, a team player and with good communication skills. I also liked the fact it had an approach to working within the media industry that I hadn’t heard about before.

Because the course is more management-based, rather than learning how to operate cameras and such, you do learn a lot of transferable business skills, which is always good. As well as this, throughout your studies you get the opportunity to put what you have learnt into practice through work placements, which give a good insight into a variety of roles.

I’m really passionate about working in children’s television and over the summer had the privilege to work for the BBC on the CBeebies show ‘Justin’s House’ which was an amazing experience.

Once I graduate I would like to make my dream of becoming a production manager a reality, and with the continued advances in TV and film technology along with the development of Media City UK, which is on Edge Hill University’s doorstep, there should be a whole host of opportunities and many areas to explore.”
