Through studying this degree I have acquired a thorough understanding of the services, policies and practices which affect children and young people, and have also gained the knowledge I need for employment once I graduate.

“There is so much to like about Edge Hill University such as the beautiful campus, the excellent facilities, and the support you receive from the tutors and staff on your course.

I decided to study the BA (Hons) in Childhood and Youth Studies because I felt it would help me to realise my career aim of working with children and young people. My experiences on the degree have confirmed that I made the right choice, with the individual modules providing lots of options to follow a variety of career paths.

The practical nature of the course is something I have really enjoyed. The group presentations have developed my teamwork skills, while undertaking my dissertation has enabled me to pursue a research interest that relates to my future ambitions.

Support from the tutors, particularly in the final year, has been invaluable. They take the time to provide helpful insight and are always on hand to offer support and advice.

Through studying this degree I have acquired a thorough understanding of the services, policies and practices which affect children and young people, and have also gained the knowledge I need for employment once I graduate.

Alongside my course, the Careers Centre at Edge Hill has provided a wide range of opportunities and helped me to secure paid voluntary work at the Liberty Centre, a charitable organisation which aims to tackle all forms of domestic violence and operates an intervention scheme for children and young people.

The combined experience of my course and my voluntary work has made me determined to work towards becoming a social worker when I graduate.”
