“This course is a new lease of life for me, something I’m doing for myself.”
“I’d always wanted to work with kids – I’ve two of my own – but always thought ‘university? I can’t do that’. All that changed when I became a teaching assistant, which led to me applying for this foundation degree. I’ve since been offered a place on the QTS course, so next year I’ll be a qualified primary school teacher. I never, ever, thought I could do that.
I chose Edge Hill because of the course. I knew it would take me step-by-step to where I want to be, while also making me a lot more confident in my current job. Also, I knew people who had come to this University and had really good things to say. So far it has exactly matched all my expectations and I can honestly say that I look forward to coming here.
At times I have found it hard work and quite intense, but you always have the full support of the tutors. If I’ve ever felt ‘I can’t do this!’ there’s always someone to say ‘of course you can’ and they’re right. It is the same with the other students; if anyone feels that they’re falling behind we support each other. It doesn’t matter where you have come from, or your academic background, Edge Hill allows you to build and work for what you want to achieve.
This course is a new lease of life for me, something I’m doing for myself, and I recommend it all the time to people I know who have older kids. The best job in the world is being a mum, but if you can use those skills in your career then it’s a great feeling.”
