Overall, I feel this course has helped me to develop the knowledge required to be a successful historian, as well as provided me with the skills needed to study any further qualifications I may wish to pursue.

“Having studied History, Philosophy and English Literature at A level, I found that Edge Hill’s History degree covered a lot of the areas that interest me.  When I visited the University I found the campus to be very open and welcoming, which made my mind up that this was where I wanted to study.

I’ve found the course to be really interesting and have particularly enjoyed studying the modules that cover the history of the British Empire.  In terms of highlights though, it has to be the recent trip to China I was lucky enough to undertake.

I successfully applied for a scholarship and, together with another student, attended Sichuan University in the city of Chengdu in south-west China.

While there, we attended lectures on Chinese history and culture and students from Sichuan University were assigned to us through a buddy scheme. They helped us settle in and showed us around the city, allowing us to experience a great deal of the culture that Chengdu had to offer.  It was a brilliant trip and one that I am really glad I had the chance to experience.

Overall, I feel this course has helped me to develop the knowledge required to be a successful historian, as well as provided me with the skills needed to study any further qualifications I may wish to pursue.  My aim, at the moment, is to enrol on a master’s degree once I graduate.”
