BA (Hons) Health and Social Wellbeing

During my placement I worked as a community support worker. I enjoyed my time there so much that I have continued with this role alongside my studies.

“After working as a carer for six years I decided I wanted to return to study, so following the successful completion of an Access course gained a place on the BSc (Hons) Health and Social Wellbeing degree at Edge Hill University.

As part of this course students have the opportunity to undertake work placements, which have proven to be really beneficial and helped me to put the theory we learn in the classroom into practice, whilst also allowing me to expand my knowledge and skills even further.

During my placement I worked as a community support worker, which had the added bonus of being a paid position. I enjoyed my time there so much that I have continued with this role alongside my studies, enabling me to link the new topics we undertake vocationally at work.

Alongside this, I have found the tutors at Edge Hill to be great as the help they provide is fantastic. Knowing this kind of support is available definitely helps to build you confidence and encourages you to succeed.

I’m thoroughly enjoying this course and so glad I chose it. My experiences at Edge Hill have helped me realise just what I want to do in life and provided me with a solid foundation on which to build. Once I graduate I am hoping to continue my studies at postgraduate level with my aim being to work within children’s social services.”
