“After completing my A levels I knew that I wanted to study history at degree level and chose Edge Hill University because the programme really appealed to me. I liked the fact it is a modern course with modules that provide a great deal of variety.

As well as this, everyone was very friendly when I came to visit Edge Hill and it only took only a few steps on to campus to realise what a special place this university is. I found the staff within the History department to be extremely welcoming and knew instantly that I would be helped and supported whenever I may need it.

What has surprised me most about the course is how much I have enjoyed studying topics that I previously hadn’t considered. I’ve also really enjoyed getting to grips with researching information as well as being exposed to a variety of new learning tools such as online archives.

When I complete my degree I am aiming to put the skills and knowledge I’ve acquired to good use by going into teaching at secondary level and feel that the course will definitely help me to achieve that.

Not only has it provided me with the core knowledge needed to be able to teach, it has also equipped me with a variety of fundamental skills, such as being able to present and explain things effectively.

I’ve really enjoyed my time at Edge Hill and feel that the History Department is unique. The tutors are approachable, supportive and always available whenever you might need them – it’s great!”
