When I saw the opportunity to become a student blogger I thought it would be good for me and provide some practical experience of what I want to do.”
“I decided to apply to Edge Hill as I loved the look of the course and it was really important to me to get a good degree. Prior to this I had spent a semester studying at another university but had really not enjoyed it, so I was really happy when I got a place here.
Although I want to be a writer, I also find film studies really interesting and am quite good at it, so the joint honours Creative Writing and Film Studies degree is ideal for me. As well as this, because I’m not sure what type of writer I’d like to be, and I have a keen interest in screenwriting, the mixture of writing and film that the course provides is a really good fit.
When I saw the opportunity to become a student blogger I thought it would be good for me and provide some practical experience of what I want to do. It also gives me the chance to put my own views forward about the process of leaving college and going to uni, as well as things such as birthdays, club nights and what it’s like to live at home. In the future I have plans to write about music festivals, films, TV shows, societies and receiving feedback on your work.
Even though I am unsure of my exact career intentions at the moment, I do know that I definitely want to be a writer, whether that is writing for film, adult fiction, children’s fiction or articles. I’d love to move to London one day and work from there.
For me, coming to Edge Hill wasn’t only about attaining a degree, it was also about getting better at something I love doing and refining my craft. I feel that my experience here will make me a better writer and give me more confidence. In the meantime, I will send my work off to everyone I can think of in the hope that someone will bite.”
