LLB (Hons) Law

The staff at Edge Hill are at the forefront of research in their specialist areas, so to work with them and learn from them has been great.

“I was contemplating what to do with my life after enjoying a successful footballing career which had come to an end due to serious illness. I knew the time was right to do something completely different and so attended an Edge Hill University open day.

Due to my former profession I’d had some experience of dealing with legal-type matters, which had increased when I moved into management, so Law was an area that really interested me. Because of this, even though I had been out of education for 16 years, I decided to study the LLB (Hons) Law degree.

It was a massive change for me at first, but I was lucky in that I found the whole subject interesting and stimulating and I developed really good relationships with the tutors, all of whom have been extremely supportive and been available at any time.

Law is an area that is constantly evolving and relevant to every aspect to our lives, so the best thing about the three years for me has been increasing my knowledge around a subject I really enjoy. As well as this, the staff at Edge Hill are at the forefront of research in their specialist areas, so to work with them and learn from them has been great.

After graduation I plan to embark on a Legal Practice course with a view to securing a training contract. Ideally, I’d like to move into the area of sports law, but I’m not thinking about that exclusively, my primary goal is to become a solicitor.

Looking back, having had one successful career and recovering from a serious illness was one huge achievement for me, but to then start something new and complete my degree has been another.”
