There can be no substitute for all the hands-on experience this PGCE provides, all of which has had a major impact on my journey.
“After completing my degree I gained a range of coaching qualifications and worked as an outdoor activity instructor for a number of years. As my role included working with children whose schools took part in residential visits, I was soon able to recognise what a positive impact the trips had on a child’s personal and social development.
Through these experiences I realised that I would like to extend my role further by being able to provide academic learning to children, so decided to train to become a teacher.
As part of my PGCE I’ve undertaken several placements, which have included an Early Years Foundation Stage setting, a school for pupils with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities, as well as an international school. Opportunities such as these have allowed me to gain a real understanding of running a classroom and a great overall insight into the teaching process.
To support this I have also completed a range of additional activities, taking place both in and outside of the classroom, such as field-trips and role play activities.
There can be no substitute for all the hands-on experience this PGCE provides, all of which has had a major impact on my journey. I have now secured my first teaching role and feel confident about utilizing all the skills this course has given me; I can’t wait to get started!”
