“The big draw of Edge Hill University is its outstanding reputation for teaching”
“The big draw of Edge Hill University is its outstanding reputation for teaching, which is why I looked at courses here. However, the course itself is why I ultimately decided to apply. It focuses specifically on early years learning and can be studied part-time while I work.
It’s also a pathway to a BA (Hons) in Early Years Practice, then possibly a PGCE and hopefully a career in early years teaching. Basically, the course perfectly matches the career route I want to take.
I didn’t know what to expect when the course began but it has definitely exceeded my expectations. I knew there would be a lot of hard work, and there has been, but the encouragement I’ve received from both my personal and course tutors is very good. They are really supportive, as is our group of students. The knowledge I’ve gained has also been really valuable, and I’ve enjoyed taking it back to work and sharing it with my colleagues.
My ultimate plan is to be an early years teacher, but in the meantime this course has already helped my career progress. At the end of my first year I gained my Early Years Level 4 Qualification and so was able to apply for a more senior position in my current job.
I was also lucky enough to be awarded a scholarship for achieving the highest average percentage mark by a part-time student in the whole of the Faculty of Education. I’m really proud of this achievement and know it will stand me in good stead when I apply for a teaching job in future”.
