Everyone I spoke to seemed to have gained a lot from the events and I was happy to take part because I love the community feel that there is on campus.
“Open days are an important way for prospective students to discover more about university and gain valuable knowledge about courses and accommodation. It is also a chance to speak to current students to gain information about life at university.
Attending an open day at Edge Hill University definitely helped me! The state-of-the-art facilities looked amazing and I couldn’t wait to utilise them. I also had the chance to speak to some of the lecturers and was amazed at the knowledge and experience that they held, as well as their enthusiasm for the subject. I felt at home on campus and knew that this was somewhere that I could see myself living for the next three years.
I decided to volunteer as a guide at the recent open days because I thought it would be a good way to share my enthusiasm and let others know about the brilliant experiences they could have. There are a wide range of activities visitors can take part in at Edge Hill including talking to course lecturers, speaking to students about life on campus, taking part in tours of the campus and accommodation and experiencing first-hand exactly what student life is like. During open days my role is to lead accommodation tours, showing prospective students the rooms available and give them advice based on my own experiences.
Everyone I spoke to seemed to have gained a lot from the events and I was happy to take part because I love the community feel that there is on campus, it is great being able to walk around different places and see friends along the way.
When I came to Edge Hill I arrived from London and didn’t know anyone, but I have been made to feel very welcome and now feel like Ormskirk is my second home. It’s difficult to decide on the one thing that is my favourite part of Edge Hill life, but I would say that being within a short train journey of the city, while only a cycle away from the nearest beach is brilliant.”
