I firmly believe the combination of skills, knowledge and experiences I have gained since starting at Edge Hill University have prepared me for life after studying.
“While studying Media at college a tutor recommended Edge Hill University to me. I visited an open day to see the campus and excellent facilities for myself and immediately knew it was the right place for me.
I chose to study the BA (Hons) in Film and Television Production because it was the natural progression from the practical experience I had gained at college. The choice of modules available sounded perfect and related really well to the work I want to do in the future. As well as this, I was looking forward to spending some time working in the TV studio.
The aspect of the degree I enjoy most is having the freedom to express myself through the medium of film and TV. I also like the fact that by studying at Edge Hill I have been given the encouragement and opportunity to experience a number of great things.
Some examples of this include working at the Keswick Film Festival and for Edge Hill University’s own record company ‘The Label’. I have also gained experience working as part of Community-I, an initiative between local organisations to improve wellbeing in West Lancashire.
Most substantial, though, was successfully gaining a place with a Liverpool-based company called Agent Marketing on their Agent Academy programme. This was a 10-week programme where I was able to work on real-life marketing campaigns and gain great insight and experience of the workplace.
I acquired so much from my time on the Academy programme, such as learning about the many aspects of marketing and gaining the confidence to become really hands-on and engaged with projects.
Some of these projects included working on a social media account for a new bar, engaging students with I-business for Community-I, and assisting my former college tutor with his student recruitment activities.
Leading on from this, I worked on a marketing campaign with Edge Hill University’s marketing team.
When I graduate I want to combine the knowledge and insight I have of the marketing world with the film and television production skills I have acquired on my degree, with the ultimate aim of using my creativity to drive innovative marketing campaigns.
I firmly believe the combination of skills, knowledge and experiences I have gained since starting at Edge Hill University have prepared me for life after studying, as well as given me the confidence to succeed in whatever I do.”
