I wanted to speak to prospective students to let them know what is available to them if they choose Edge Hill – from the support systems to ensure that you feel comfortable in a new environment, to the excellent work opportunities on campus and abroad.
“When I visited Edge Hill University it was the first open day I’d ever been to so I attended everything possible including the finance talks and accommodation tours. After visiting other open days I decided to explore Edge Hill once more and as soon as I stepped back onto campus I knew I would settle here. The students seemed really happy and everything I could possibly need was within easy reach.
I’m still really enthusiastic about studying here, and all that it offers, which is why I decided to help out at open days. I wanted to speak to prospective students to let them know what is available to them if they choose Edge Hill – from the support systems to ensure that you feel comfortable in a new environment, to the excellent work opportunities on campus and abroad.
I remember the accommodation tour I had when I visited where the guide was one of the friendliest people I have ever met which was an influential factor when I came to apply. I would hope that my friendly nature and growing confidence has been just as welcoming.
My role at open days is to help out at registration, with one of the things I like to convey being the community feel we have here on campus. It’s extremely reassuring knowing so many people on campus and I wanted to let potential students know that there are plenty of opportunities to get involved in a variety of things, as well as meet lots of new people.
Looking back, I have had a great three years and am glad that I took advantage of the opportunities that came to me. I have been a student ambassador and have travelled the country spreading the word about Edge Hill.
After graduating I am hoping to go on to study for a PGCE in Secondary English, which is something I never thought would be possible. The confidence I have acquired during my time here is enormous and will be extremely advantageous when I start my career in teaching.”
