I have had so many positive experiences and learnt so much during my time at Edge Hill.
“I’ve found that my BSc in Physical Geography and Geology has provided a really effective combination of theoretical and practical training and helped me to understand a range of geological and geographical environments.
For me, the best part has been implementing this knowledge and applying it in real-world settings, which have included a field trip to Mallorca. Exposure to environments such as this have been fundamental, not only have they encouraged me to learn more, subsequently building my confidence professionally, they have also brought about social interaction with my fellow students and enabled us to get to know each other better.
As I combine my studies alongside working at the NSG Group (Pilkington) I certainly have to manage my time effectively, but both the University and my employers have been as accommodating and supportive as possible.
The course has increased my knowledge of rocks, minerals and their environments of formation, allowing me to have in-depth discussions with my colleagues about their characteristics and the potential risks that certain materials pose to the manufacture of products. There’s no doubt that this has provided me with a greater understanding of the work I undertake in assessing raw materials used in the glass making process.
It has sometimes been a little challenging balancing work and study, but I have had so many positive experiences and learnt so much during my time at Edge Hill University – it has really given me the determination to improve and do the best that I can.”
