“I wasn’t planning to go to university and only came to the open day at Edge Hill because my twin sister was attending. I happened to see information for the Creative Performance degree and was really impressed by the range of modules, so decided to apply.
Since arriving I have had so much fun. I know that I want to work in the performing arts in some capacity when I leave university, so being able to try a variety of areas on this course has been amazing. I’m especially interested in how performances are created – what works, how it works, why it works – and have learnt a lot already.
The multimedia classes have definitely been my favourite aspect so far. I’d never done anything like that before and have found learning a new discipline really exciting. I’m really looking forward to doing more in future.
My tutors are really focused and always make time to listen and help. It’s good to have someone to talk to if needs be. They have encouraged us to see performances at the University’s Rose Theatre as often as possible, which I have found to be really inspirational. It is useful to see how other people work and I have found that I learn from this and been able to incorporate ideas into my assessments.
The campus itself is lovely. One of my sisters goes to a city centre university while the other is on a campus: I think that Edge Hill is a good mix of the two. You have the friendly campus feel while being near a town and a city. Together my course and the university have definitely exceeded my expectations.”
