The feeling you get when you observe a child achieving their goals and showing enthusiasm to succeed is the best feeling of all and is something I am looking forward to experiencing regularly over the coming years.

“After teaching for a private tutoring company I wanted a career where I could continue to support children to succeed so decided to study the BA (Hons) in Primary Mathematics Education with QTS.

I chose to study at Edge Hill University because of its friendly and welcoming atmosphere and how everything you need is on one campus. There is a great atmosphere and I have been fortunate to meet some amazing friends.

One of the most worthwhile aspects of the degree has been the amount of opportunities you are given. I have gained experience in a range of schools and have been able to organise my personal placement in order to enhance my learning. This flexibility has enabled me to observe various teaching strategies in schools in England, Northern Ireland and Germany.

Everything I have studied on the programme has been structured to include a range of practical activities that are suitable for primary-aged children, which has been invaluable as I have been able to incorporate them into my own teaching.

I have no doubt the course will help me to achieve my goals as it has provided me with the skills and knowledge to support my learning and develop my teaching. In addition to this, the encouragement from staff who are all committed to ensuring I achieve to my full potential has been hugely beneficial to me.

My plan is to continue to gain experience in a range of school settings to enable me to become an outstanding, supportive and approachable teacher.
