About the PGMI

Established in 2014, the Postgraduate Medical Institute, PGMI, hosts a range of innovative educational programmes providing postgraduate training for doctors, dentists and a wide range of healthcare professionals, in partnership with the NHS and other healthcare providers. Our research focuses on evaluation, clinical education and care delivery and has attracted funding from diverse sources including NHS England, Health Education North West and local Clinical Commissioning Groups.

The Institute provides a focus for knowledge-exchange and networking through a range of events, with opportunities for teaching, learning and research.

Our overall aim is to improve care of people locally, nationally, and internationally. We will achieve this by building on our core principles of high quality care for all and collaborative partnership. Improvements in health and social care are based on the cornerstones of research, innovation and education. High quality research drives evidence-informed innovation in care which is translated into changes in practice through education of those needing and delivering care.
