Biography

Robert Collinson is a Solicitor and is the Director of the Law Clinic, which provides free legal advice to members of the public. He has Module Leader responsibility for Company Law, Equity and Trusts, Tax Law and the Law Clinic Experience Module. He also has lead responsibility for Law Careers and Employability.

Educated at Lancaster University, Balliol College, Oxford and The College of Law, Chester, his background is as a legal practitioner, spending the first seven years of his career in full time commercial practice with Addleshaw, Sons & Latham (now Addleshaw Goddard) in Manchester. He maintains his interest and involvement in legal practice through his role as a Non-Executive Director of Wrightington, Wigan and Leigh NHS Foundation Trust, to which he was appointed on the basis of his legal qualifications and experience. This position involves him in regularly providing advice to the Board of Directors on a wide range of practical legal issues. He also has a judicial role as a Chairman of Fitness to Practise Hearings for the Nursing and Midwifery Council.

He serves as an External Examiner for the Legal Practice Course and Exempting Law Degree at Huddersfield University and at the University of Central Lancashire.

He is a Member of the Law Society and is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy.
