Profile

Biography

I have built a solid foundation in both traditional and specialised areas of science!

I have obtained my BSc in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics; this gives me a great multidisciplinary base. I then continued in my postgraduate studies and completed 2 MSc degrees:  the  first  one  in  Organic  Chemistry  from  St.  John’s  College  Agra  (Agra University, India) and the second one in Environmental Analytical Chemistry (University of Glasgow). I then obtained my PhD in Chemistry from the University of Sunderland (my research topic was on Radical Cyclisation).  I then conducted research on Glycosylation as a Postdoctoral Researcher at the University of Birmingham.

My academic career began as a Senior Research Fellow on Natural Dyes at G.B. Pant University of Agriculture and Technology in India. Following my move to the UK, I have taught at various institutions, including as a Visiting Lecturer at the University of Sunderland. I then worked as a Lecturer in Chemistry at Wirral Metropolitan College where I taught on the BSc (Hons) Chemistry programme (accredited by the University of Manchester)  and  on  the  HNC  and  HND  courses  in  Chemistry.  I  joined  Edge  Hill University (EHU) in February 2008 as a Senior Lecturer in Chemistry, and I have taught on  various  chemistry  modules  in  Education  and  across  all  programmes  in  the Department of Biology.

My dedication to teaching has earned recognition at  EHU,  including  being  listed  in  the  Directory  for Good Practice for high-quality Tutor support, which positively  impacted  retention  and  progression  of students. In addition, I was awarded ‘The Chancellor’s Award’ for Excellence in Teaching.
