Biography

I hold current NMC registration as a Specialist Community Public Health Nurse – Health Visiting and NMC registered teacher status

My employment background is in General Nursing, Midwifery, Health Visiting and Higher Education, with a number of years professional experience in each of these areas.

I have worked as a Senior Lecturer at Edge Hill University since 2007, on both the Nurse Education and Applied Health and Social Care Teams and retained close links with practice. I have both taught, marked and moderated students work at both undergraduate and post graduate degree level.

Research interests/Areas of expertise

Safeguarding children

Women’s health

Infant feeding (particularly breastfeeding)

Children’s emotional health.

My research around the inclusion of children’s emotional health and wellbeing, within the nursing curriculum, further enabled me to collaborate with the Department of Health, contributing to the national agenda around the issues of children’s mental health.

Currently involved with Public Health England in an Expert Advisory role, considering the refresh of delivery of the School Nursing and Health Visiting national agenda.
