My favourite thing about studying at Edge Hill was the amount of support I received from my tutors. They helped me to succeed beyond my expectations. When I first started my degree, I struggled to settle in and found the course challenging – but the staff were so friendly and encouraging, helping me build my confidence. I loved it so much, I stayed to complete a Masters.

My degree in Computing focused a lot on employment, so I learned skills like communication, presentation and writing – which I think are just as important of the technical side of the course. Because of this, it has helped me to approach scenarios and tackle problems in my graduate job.

The Department of Computer Science regularly hosted guest speakers from industry. They talked to us about the working environment and expectations in their own organisations. The university careers team also gave me some great advice on choosing a career path, and helped me to prepare for graduate job interviews.

The cyber security industry is huge today. I was really excited to join such a fast-paced, growing area of IT – and my independent attitude and technical skillset was perfect for the role of Product Owner.

On a day-to-day basis, my job involves attending a ‘Daily Scrum’ – this is where I get to listen to developers and offer advice on the next steps they could take. I work with stakeholders and product managers to discuss ways to add value to our services, and I collaborate with our UX Designer to improve the user journey. I’m also lucky to get involved in a lot of learning and development activities – so I’m always learning new skills and technical knowledge. I plan to continue my career here at NCC Group, and hope to use my knowledge to build a foundation of support for our new graduate employees.
