I enjoy the wide variety of career pathways that business management opens. This includes more creative careers such as marketing or more analytical jobs such as finance.

I enjoy the wide variety of career pathways that business management opens. This includes more creative careers such as marketing or more analytical jobs such as finance. In both of these roles there are many transferrable skills taught in business management which can be useful regardless of which subject people prefer in business. I enjoy the work experience opportunities that studying business provides, whether it’s through modules such as the employability module or other opportunities from the careers team. I believe getting work experience is very useful for building confidence and learning more about the career possibilities available after finishing your degree. I have developed my communication skills, academic writing and organisation whilst on this degree.

I was first interested in Edge Hill because of the beautiful campus. I loved all the green space on campus and how open it was. I also love the quieter location of Ormskirk rather than other universities which are located in the city centre. In addition to this after looking at the business and management course the modules covered a lot of subjects I was interested in, such as human resource management and international economics. The best thing about Edge Hill is the amazing campus with such great facilities such as the Catalyst which has so many useful resources for studying as well as the study rooms.

The most memorable moment was meeting people in my course during the first weeks of first year. Finding people you feel comfortable with is important to be able to have people to support you and make friends. Being able to make friends in my course was a relief and it’s great knowing people on your course to be able to support each other with work.

My favourite thing about my degree subject is the variety of modules included in business management. I especially enjoyed learning about accounting and statistics and digital marketing, and I am looking forward to studying human resources and international business. When I graduate I hope to travel and work in human resources or finance.

My advice to someone looking to study business management at Edge Hill is to look at the degree information available online to see if the modules are something that you would be interested in. I would also also advise attending an Open Day and attending the course sessions to meet some of your lecturers and see the facilities available.
