Since starting at Edge Hill I have been interim Programme Lead for the MSc Advanced Practice programme and taken this through sucessful revalidation.  I have also been the developmental lead for the MSci Nurse Paramedic programme which is the first in the UK to be successfully validated, and will be the Adult Nursing Programme Lead for this programme moving forward.

Research Interests

I have several areas of research interests.  My Professional Doctorate in Public Health is focused on the perceptions of risk exposure to virus (Measles) and student nurses perceptions of vaccination status in relation to this.

Through my work as HEE Fellow (Seconded) for the RePAIR project, and my role as Learning and Teaching Fellow within the unviersity I have been able to focus on retention of students who are enrolled onto professional programmes and use innovation within curriculum desgin to evaluate its effect on the level of retention at key points within the student journey.

As as aside to this and through the development of the new MSCi Nurse Paramedic integrated award I have developed a research focus around the development of a novel and integrated student’s professional identity and how this impacts on retention both within the duration of the programme and post-qualification.

Teaching

My main areas of teaching are directed to acute care, and anatomy and physiology, as well as infection prevention and control.

Through my work within the advanced practice programme I have been involved with enhanced level of skills teaching and also contexts and concepts relating to the role.

Through the development of the Nurse Paramedic programme, anaotmy and physiology and key concepts around developing the role will be my focus.
