Profile

Biography

Philip has been the Associate Head of Postgraduate Medical Education at Edge Hill University since 2021. He is also the Medical School lead for Academic Quality and Enhancement. He is a Pharmacologist and member of the British Pharmacological Society (BPS) actively contributing to pharmacology teaching across both postgraduate and undergraduate programmes within the Faculty of Health, Social Care and Medicine.

Philip’s current research interest is in the development of novel therapies for the treatment of brain tumours. Current projects include the development of novel Cyclin Dependent Kinase (CDK) inhibitors for the treatment of glioblastoma and the identification and characterisation of non-Poly(ADP-Ribose) Polymerase 1 targets of olaparib for the treatment of glioblastoma and neuroblastoma. Ongoing projects include the supervision of PhD students based at Edge Hill and with collaborators at the University of Central Lancashire.
