Profile

Biography

Having qualified as a nurse and paramedic working within the NHS for over 20 years. I have worked across both primary and secondary care services at a managerial level. I have led a number of clinical projects to support patient journey and prevention hospital admissions. My role over the years has been diverse working as an independent practitioner across remote and rural practice. I enjoy the challenges autonomous practice brings and enjoy working in the remoter parts of norther Scotland

Research Interests

I have a keen interest in remote and rural practice and the challenges of care delivery to both nurse and paramedics. My doctoral thesis explored the recruitment and retention of nurses staff across norther Scotland’s non doctor islands.

Teaching

I am currently the programme lead for advanced clinical practice within the university. My teaching role is diverse and include, research methodology, clinical examination, frailty, medical education and advancing practice dissertation. I enjoy the teaching and supervisor roles my job brings and I currently supervise several masters dissertation students to completion.
