Biography

Amelia (Milly) is a senior lecturer on the MSc Nursing programme in Adult and Primary Care Nursing within the School of Nursing, Midwifery and Allied Health Professions.

A former Edge Hill student, Milly joined the department in August 2004 after working in a local NHS trust for 6 years and gaining a wealth of experience in acute adult services in a clinical role. 

Research Interests

Amelia’s reserch interests include: the impact of stigma and discrimination on experiences of loneliness in older LGBT adults, loneliness and older adults and the impact of loneliness interventions.  Her Phd focussed on how experiences of stigma and discrimination in the early lives of gay men impacted on experiences of loneliness throughout their lifecourse.

Teaching

Amelia teaches a range of health and nursing related subjects on the MSc Nursing programme, these include health promotion, public health, nusing assessment and care planning, anatomy and physiology and leadership and management skills.  

Amelia also plans and manages simulated practice learning for the MSc students, this involves using face to face and virtual simulation to allow students to prepare for clinical placement.
