Saturday 4th and Sunday 5th July 2015
This workshop offered a space to introduce and deepen participants’ integration and combination of approaches to somatic work within Dance Movement Psychotherapy.
We worked in a person-centred, process-oriented manner, drawing on the approaches people are already familiar with.
Guided peer practice and discussion allowed participants to address emergent themes in an embodied and theoretical way.
Our focus was on following and assisting processes as they unfold both in the inner experience of the body and in its expression in movement. Elements of witnessing as practiced in Authentic Movement was used to support us throughout this process.
Barbara Erber holds a Diploma in Integrative Bodywork and Movement Therapy (IBMT) and trained as a Dance Movement Psychotherapist (MSc, RDMP).
She worked with traumatised adults and children in various settings, focusing on the relationship between trauma and physical symptoms. Barbara taught somatic work and recently embarked on a PhD project.
