BA (Hons) Drama
Third year Drama student Emily Edwards has been inspired to develop her own Theatre in Education company after fully embracing the opportunities presented by the Arts and Enterprise module.
Students created their own Theatre in Education companies as a vehicle for delivering community projects. Emily toured around schools in Stockport creating and delivering workshops designed to engage year 5 pupils. The theme of the workshops was British values, and pupils developed a range of developed independent thinking and active learning skills. As a result, pupils felt confident using drama practices and the active learning technique helped the students remember what they had learnt effectively. Emily feels the process of creating a Theatre in Education company gave her the skills she needs to operate successfully within the arts and education sector.
“Emily’s delivery of her workshop sessions was fantastic and the children really enjoyed learning about British values. Most importantly, the workshops catered for all learning needs and every single child felt valued, we would love to have Emily back again.”
