Faculty of Education Privacy Notice
Our respect for the privacy and security of your data is of great importance to the Faculty of Education and Edge Hill University. All personal data is held and processed in accordance with the Data Protection Act 1998 and the General Data Protection Act (GDPR).
What information do we collect about you?
We collect information about you via the Destination Survey, and transfer this into our Trainee Tracking Database called the TTD.
The data the team may process could include:
- Your title, name (including former name), gender and date of birth
- Your contact information including address, telephone number, email and social media details
- Your business details including positions, organisation, professional memberships and qualifications
- Information contained within your student record
- Any other information you have provided us with
How do we use the information you provide to us?
We will use your data to help us provide continued services to you during and after your time at Edge Hill University.
The career destination information you provide in the Destination Survey allows us to better develop a programme that supports both current trainees seeking employment and Newly Qualified Teachers as they progress through this rewarding yet challenging first year.
We use your contact information to inform you about careers information and activities that you may be interested in.
Under the GDPR, we do have to meet one of the conditions set out in Article 6 for processing your data, we use the information we collect only in compliance with this privacy notice. The processing of your data is necessary for statutory and contractual purposes. Full details are contained with the University’s Fair Processing of Student Personal Data Policy which is available in hard copy upon request.
Who do we share your information with?
We do not share the information you provide to us outside of the European Economic Area (EEA) or with other parties unless there is a lawful basis to do so.
Data is stored within the University and out Trainee Tracking Database. We may also share information about your career’s activities with other departments in Edge Hill University.
How long do you keep my information?
We retain personal information that you provide in the Destination Survey for three years post-graduation. At the end of this period your personal information is deleted, and personal data purged from our systems.
Is my personal data secure?
We are committed to the security of the information we hold and in ensuring that only people who need to access the information, are able to do so. Your information is held securely on the University servers, with access restricted to authorised personal only,
You have the right to access and be informed what personal data the University holds about you and what it is used for (please refer to the University’s Subject Access Request Form). We may amend this privacy notice from time to time, any significant changes to this notice or to the way we treat your data will be communicated via the Edge Hill Website or by contacting you directly through the most appropriate means.
