Biography

Andrew Millie is Professor of Criminology and Associate Head of the School of Law, Criminology and Policing, Edge Hill University. His research sits at the crossroads between criminology, philosophy and theology and aims to uncover the roots of criminological debates, and challenge conventional thinking in penal theory and ethics.

He is the author of ‘Philosophical Criminology’ (2016) and his latest book is ‘Criminology and Public Theology: On Hope, Mercy and Restoration’ (2021), a collection that brings together leading criminologists and theologians to challenge penal orthodoxy.

Andrew is also known for research on policing, and he has just completed an ESRC-funded project on visible policing in partnership with colleagues from the Open University and Northumbria University.
