Edge Hill’s men’s hockey team strengthened their silverware aspirations on a day of contrasting fortunes in BUCS league and cup action.
It was a mixed bag of results for Edge Hill University sports teams as the fixture schedule returned to a semblance of normality following recent bad weather.
Heavy snow didn’t just affect commuters in and around Ormskirk on one of the coldest days of the year so far on the last Wednesday of January – it also played havoc with Edge Hill University’s BUCS fixture schedule.
Freezing conditions meant that the first BUCS rugby union and hockey fixtures of 2019 were called off. However, this meant badminton took centre stage at Edge Hill University’s sports complex.
With the festive break approaching there were only two official BUCS fixtures for Edge Hill University sides – and there were positive results for both teams in competitive action.
It was a busy week of BUCS league action, with many Edge Hill sides looking to round off 2018 on a high note – and it was the men’s football teams who duly delivered on that score in the pouring rain in Ormskirk.
