A big welcome to you if you’re starting at our Edge Hill St James’ campus soon. Here you’ll find updates and important info, as well as events, activities and initiatives which you can get involved in. We know that starting university is one of the most exciting times of your life. But we also know that between working out your timetable, making new friends and settling into a new place, you may not have had a chance to take in all your induction and welcome information.
So, we’ve brought some useful info together to help you settle in and to get the most out of your first few days.
Have you fully enrolled onto your course?
You should have completed Stage One of enrolment online before you arrived. You also need to complete Stage Two so you can access your online sessions and receive your student loan on time.

Are you familiar with your Induction timetable?
The timetable tells you what you’re doing and where you need to be during your first week at EHU. You can view yours on your applicants’ page.
Get involved in Student Life
The Student Life team are here to help you to settle into life on campus, they have a regular presence in the Student Common Room.
To find out what’s on around campus, visit the Student Life Portal. Explore events, find ways to develop, connect and find new friends. There really is something for everyone. And it’s all in one place. Some events require you to book in advance, so we recommend checking in regularly. To access the Student Life Portal you will need log in with your student ID number.
Campus Connectors
Our Campus Connectors are students just like you – they run events and are here to help you settle into Student Life.
Student Life Breakfast
Every Tuesday and Thursday, 8.15-9.15am – Student Common Room
Start the day right if you arrive early on campus come and grab a free tea or coffee and a snack and get connected with your peers.
EHU St James’ Students group
Join our Facebook group to find friends on your course, access travel information and location support. We will also share announcements and event highlights. The group is also a great place to head if you have any questions. Get answers from us here at Edge Hill, or your fellow course mates.
To join the group you will need to add your student number.
Your Students’ Union
Your EHSU is here to support throughout your University journey. Tell them your ideas, your issues, vote for the students you want to represent you, or run for a role yourself. Giving you the power to continually improve Edge Hill.
Although the Students’ Union is based on the main campus in Ormskirk, they offer a number of services to the Manchester campus remotely.
Advice
The Edge Hill Students’ Advice Team provides free independent, confidential and expert advice for Edge Hill students. You can book an appointment via telephone or video call. EHSU can support with a number of issues including academic problems, housing and landlords, exams, mental health support and more. The Students’ Union are independent from the University, which means our advice is completely unbiased.
Societies
Joining or creating a society is the best way to find new friends and discover a new passion away from your studies. Looking to make new friends in the big city? Why not start a society for you and other Manchester Campus students?
Societies are completely student-run and facilitated by your Students’ Union. EHSU can support you in organising trips, activities, workshops and more. Whether you’re into politics, music, academia or board games, there is a society for everybody. Don’t hesitate to start the process to setup a society if you’re a Manchester student.

The elected officer team is here to represent you. Elected by Edge Hill students, our Presidents are the face of the Union.
Our Health, Social Care & Medicine President, Paige Rivers is your President. Paige is here to support all students within your Faculty.
Get to know your Library and Learning Services
The Catalyst is home to specialist support teams including Library and Learning Services, Student Services, and Careers. You can get to know them by visiting their induction webpage. The webpage gives you access to the Learning and Support Services Induction toolkit to give you everything you need for a successful start to EHU. As well as this you can find out about Catalyst tours, virtual tours, library opening times and more.

Induction helpdesk
An online live chat Induction Helpdesk will be available 8.30am-5pm from Saturday 28 September to Friday 4 October and from Monday 7 to Wednesday 9 October. You can access the live chat via the Students’ Homepage.
Catalyst Helpdesk Team
The Catalyst Helpdesk Team are there to answer questions about most aspects of university life. So it’s a great place to go if you’re unsure about who to speak to. Even if it feels like you have a silly question, it will probably have been asked before.

Wellbeing
Appointments will be offered every Thursday between 10am and 4pm. Please email Student Wellbeing to book.
Student Support, Money Advice and Inclusion
Support is available from Student Services virtually and face to face appointments are available on request. Student Services will also be at Induction, Welcome Fairs and other events throughout the year.
