As you begin your last semester as an undergraduate student, we want you to make the most of your time left and ensure it’s as stress-free as possible. That’s why we’ve put this handy guide together, to support you through your final semester.

Returning for your final semester

We are working hard to ensure you have amazing events to return to in January. Get ready for:

Student Life Fest

Back by popular demand, Student Life Fest will be taking over the Sports Centre on Tuesday 28 January to welcome you back to university. The day is everything sports and wellbeing so if you fancy trying some campus sport activities or grabbing a cuddle with the therapy dogs. You won’t want to miss this event.

EHSU Welcome Fair

Head to our new Students’ Union on Wednesday 29 January (10am-2pm) to kick start your final semester. Explore societies. Establish new connections. And of course, grab some freebies to enjoy too.

Completing your studies

As you get ready to submit your final assignments or sit assessments, the UniSkills team are here to help. Take advantage of the support they offer and reach your full potential.

Free printing and dissertation binding

As a final year student, you can take advantage of free printing and binding for your dissertation. We know how hard you’ve worked on it so we want to make sure you have a copy you can keep. Head to the Catalyst Helpdesk to request your dissertation credit (£10) and ring binders. The Helpdesk Team are also happy to lend a hand if you need any help using the equipment.

Grab a free drink and cake on us

Take a break and have a treat on us. All final years can claim a voucher for a free drink and cake of your choice.

Ormskirk

Redeemable in the Costa Coffee outlet in The Hub. Collect your voucher from the reception desk in the Main Building. Just give them your name, pick up your voucher and enjoy.

Manchester

Redeemable in Philpots, Manchester. Collect your voucher from the reception desk at EHU St James’. Just give them your name, pick up your voucher and enjoy.

And remember, with our Commuter Breakfast, you can grab a free hot drink and snack every Tuesday and Thursday between 8-9am in Creative Edge. Start your day the right way.

Get support with interview expenses

Did you know we can help cover the costs of attending an interview? If you have an upcoming interview or assessment day apply to the Student Opportunity Fund (SOF) for financial help to cover any related travel expenses which aren’t covered by the employer.

We also have a range of interview wear available, so you don’t need to splash out for the perfect interview outfit. We’ll make an appointment for you to view the collection and select your outfit. The clothes are then yours to keep.

Looking after your mental health and wellbeing

The Mental Health and Wellbeing Team offer a range of emotional and practical support including Counselling and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, joining the on-campus Active Wellbeing Programme and support navigating student life.

And don’t forget, Togetherall, our free online, anonymous peer support network is available 24/7. Moderated by mental health professionals, it promotes early intervention and self-management of mental health and wellbeing. It also offers you guided support courses, focused on a range of wellbeing topics.

Get involved with Edge Hill Sport

Make the most of your last semester and take some time to recharge. There’s something for everyone at Edge Hill Sport. Keep fit around your studies, meet new people and improve your mental health and wellbeing.

Dive into free swimming sessions

Look after your body and mind by diving into our swimming pool to get fitter and de-stress. You can access free swimming sessions during the January assessment period. Just show your UniCard at the Sports Centre reception to access any public swim session.

Discounted gym membership

You can now sign up for a student gym membership covering January to August 2025 for a discounted price of £90. And we offer a free trial to all students throughout January, so you can try before you buy.

Laptop loans

If you don’t have use of your own laptop, don’t worry. Catalyst has over 100 that you can borrow. All have access to the University network and online file storage, including most software available from the University. These can be loaned for up to two weeks, or you can request a longer-term loan.

Get ready for your next steps

The Careers Team are here to help you achieve success. And that doesn’t stop when you graduate. You can access our services for up to three years after graduation.

Finding a graduate role

There’s no need to wait until you finish your degree to start looking for your next step. Take a look at the Careers Vacancy Portal where you’ll find a range of graduate jobs available to apply for. The team can advise and check applications, prepare you for an interview, or explore your future options.

Workshops and events

Throughout the semester there are a range of workshop and employer events both in person and online for you to get involved with. Check out the careers portal to view the events and book your place.

Bespoke advice

The Careers Team are here to help with tailored advice, support and help with applications. Use the Ask a Question service or book an online or in-person appointment with a Careers Adviser on our webpages.

The team also offer a drop-in service in Catalyst. Call into Careers Corner without needing an appointment. Simply turn up 11am-3pm on weekdays during term time and we’ll be there to help.

Funding available
