Due to the success of the temporary testing facility on campus recently, the University has acted quickly with Universities UK, Public Health England and West Lancashire Borough Council to secure the onsite testing facility, making it easier for more people to be tested and to provide reassurance that, should anyone in the community develop symptoms, they can access a test readily and conveniently.

Deputy Vice-Chancellor Steve Igoe said: “As we continue to listen to the needs of the community, one area of concern from everyone is the lack of testing provision locally. Due to the success of the temporary testing facility we had here on campus earlier this month, we have acted to quickly with partners to secure an onsite testing facility.

“Hopefully this test centre will help reduce infection rates in the Lancashire area. I must stress that due to the high demand for tests across the county, you should only use the facility if you are presenting symptoms.”

Tests can be booked for those displaying symptoms on the Government website. The website will display a number of different options which should include your nearest walk through testing site. People will then be able to choose the option of Edge Hill University and book a slot. Please note you must contact use the Government website to book a test, Edge Hill University cannot book an appointment.

The testing site is open from 8am to 8pm seven days a week and is safely contained within the tennis courts at the back of campus, operating with the highest levels of public health at the forefront.

Anyone visiting the campus after booking a test should continue to follow Covid-19 guidelines to wash hands regularly, always wear a face mask and maintain social distancing wherever possible.
