An expert in visual computing at Edge Hill University has been recognised for his outstanding contributions to cutting edge technology over the last decade.

Yonghuai Liu, Professor of Computer Graphics and Games at Edge Hill, has been awarded the title of Most Influential Scholar Honorable Mention by AMiner for his exceptional technical achievements which have made a lasting impact.

Professor Liu is among the world’s top-cited research scholars looking at how artificial intelligence will change over the next ten years.

Professor Yonghuai Liu said:

“I feel excited and honoured to be recognised and I am so proud of my achievements over the past ten years. A long-term commitment to research and an appreciation for what research can achieve is critical to advance what is state-of-the-art and explore solutions to real world problems.”

Computer Sciences at Edge Hill

Based within the University’s Computer Sciences Department, Professor Liu is currently an editor and has contributed to more than 80 journals and international conferences. He has also won several international awards, including best editor and best reviewer from the top-ranked international conferences in the field of robotics and multimedia.  

Professor Liu’s primary research interests lie in 3D computer vision, image processing, pattern recognition, machine learning, artificial intelligence, and intelligent systems.

He added: “This award will help build the reputation of our research in the field of visual computing and visualisation, inspire staff members to explore what they are interested in and help us to recruit new, ambitious PhD students.”
