An animation collaboration between Edge Hill alumni, Peter Miller, and Mike McGear McCartney (both pictured above), is now available to view via social media channels.

Peter, who graduated in 2017 with a degree in Animation, went on to win the Royal Television Society North West Student Award for Animation for his picture, Peregrine the Pathetic.

This led to Peter meeting artist and photographer Mike, younger brother of The Beatles’ legend Paul, via his former lecturer, Dr Alex Jukes (Senior Lecturer Animation).

Peter created a video storyboard with Mike’s ‘Weirdo’ sketches, bringing them to life in the form of a series of 10-15 second vignette animations.

Mike also recorded the audio in Edge Hill’s studios and sound editing suites, working with Senior Lecturer in Music Sound and Audio Production, Gary Westhead.

Mike is a key member of the famous Liverpool band, The Scaffold, founded in the 1960s, and The Weirdo characters, Blob and Beaky, even graced the band’s first singles cover, 2 Day’s Monday.

The collaboration brought Mike to Edge Hill for the first time, with music being provided from his acclaimed McGear album, which was re-mastered and re-released this month.

The full animation is available to watch via Facebook, Instagram and YouTube.
