The Human Resources team at Edge Hill has won a prestigious award from the Institute of Organisation Development for its review of Learning and Development for University staff.

The team beat tough competition from finalists West Midlands Trains, North Lincolnshire Council and Merseycare NHS Foundation Trust, to scoop the Organisation Development Project of the Year award.

The HR team was awarded the accolade for its review, which set out to evaluate the current learning and development provision, aiming to develop an in-depth understanding of what the current and future needs of the University and its people are.

The review identified three key areas of focus:

  • Enhance the depth and rigour of leadership/management development
  • Foster and create more consistency, challenge and inspiration throughout our learning offer
  • Identify opportunities to add to our ‘menu’ of internal and external expertise

And from these areas, the team drew up a three-year plan to refresh and repackage, develop depth, consistency and levels of learning and tailor the training to the needs of faculties and services.

Director of HR, Sonya Clarkson said: “Over the last 12 months the HR service has been working hard to ensure it is perceived as a credible and integrated service, committed to supporting the delivery of the University’s objectives. The award is the first we have received since we began this transformational change and signals significant progress towards our goal.”
