With many employers already looking to recruit graduates this year, Edge Hill University’s Careers’ team are holding an advice boot camp for recent graduates.

Designed to equip graduates with the skills and confidence they need to secure their first job, the free and fast-paced session will take place on Tuesday 12 February. Debbie Murray, Careers Adviser, said:

“Getting your foot in the door of that first graduate job can be a daunting prospect for any graduate as employers seek to appoint the best applicants for their exciting and challenging graduate training schemes and roles.

“But if you’ve graduated in December or July we can help you to navigate the graduate recruitment and selection process and polish your interview performance in an interactive three-hour boot camp.”

The ‘Commandeer your Career’ session will help graduates brush up their CVs, complete job applications and teach interview techniques.

It follows several successful boot camps held throughout 2018 offering advice and support. A former graduate said:

“I found the careers boot camp really helpful and enjoyed using the software to practice psychometric selection tests. I now feel confident in understanding a job person specification and applying my own experiences to them within my personal statement to meet the essential criteria.”

The University’s Careers’ team can provide ongoing support for up to three years following graduation, which included personal advice and guidance and access to careers events.
