Edge Hill University Medical School has gained valuable accreditation as a Surgical Education Centre from the Royal College of Surgeons.
The prestigious medical body, which is committed to enabling surgeons to achieve and maintain the highest standards of surgical practice and patient care, has granted the centre accreditation from July 2018.
The Edge Hill University Medical School will develop a new generation of doctors who understand the needs of the local communities and can respond to, and drive forward, new models of care. Training undergraduate medical students from 2020, with a foundation year available from 2019, the Medical School will provide much-needed additional doctors for the North West.
The Medical School first intake will be to its Foundation Year for Medicine, starting in 2019. The one-year course will prepare students to enter the five-year medical degree that starts in 2020. The Foundation Year is for students from the region who have A levels in Biology and Chemistry’ but need to reach a higher academic standard before they can start on a degree in Medicine.
Applications will be through UCAS with a deadline of October 15th 2018.
