Edge Hill staff visited China earlier this month on a cross-faculty trip to meet and strengthen links with colleagues from the School of Humanities, Sichuan Technology and Business University (STBU), Chengdu.
Staff from the departments of Social Sciences and Early Years Education and from the Language Centre toured the campus at Meishan and delivered a lecture to 700 students. They also conducted seminars with 250 kindergarten teachers and the Local Government Education Minister. These events focussed on Edge Hill University’s research and teaching profile in the area of early childhood studies.
The visit helped to build on interest from STBU students and staff to visit and study at Edge Hill, and the University hopes to welcome their students and teachers as soon as possible.
Professor of Social Sciences Tom Cockburn said: “This trip has confirmed that there are enormous opportunities for the Universities to share research ideas and provide prospects for our students to visit China and for STBU staff and students to visit and study with us in Edge Hill.”
