Edge Hill University last night (Thursday 6 April) scooped the top award for accommodation at the Whatuni Student Choice Awards.

Having been shortlisted in an unprecedented five categories and gaining a top five ranking in each (including Courses and Lecturers and Uni Facilities), the University was also awarded third place for its student support services.

In the most coveted award category of the evening, University of the Year, Edge Hill was ranked 5th out of 127 universities overall, rising to second in the UK in our peer group of modern diversified universities offering a full range of subjects.

The awards represent the student voice, giving 27,000 students the chance to have their say on universities across the UK. Speaking at the awards ceremony, John Cater, Vice-Chancellor of Edge Hill, said:

“We’re delighted to be finalists in five categories, an exceptional performance for the University. Not only that, but we have been identified as the top accommodation provider in the UK and the top diversified university for student support- something that really matters to us.

“This achievement builds on a wide range of awards and recognition in the Higher Education sector for the University, including last month’s commission by Times Higher Education as the top modern diversified university in the UK. We’re committed to not only maintaining and sustaining this standard, but continuing to invest in improving the student experience at Edge Hill University.”

Marcella Collins, Managing Director UK, Hotcourses Group, added:

“Many congratulations to Edge Hill University, whose students have deemed their accommodation the best in the country at this year’s Whatuni Student Choice Awards. Edge Hill also achieved a top-three finish in the Student Support category and were nominated in a further three categories.

As well as offering a platform for students to celebrate what their university has to offer, Whatuni’s student reviews provide valuable feedback to universities across a wide range of different categories.”
