Edge Hill University’s computing students recently took part in an event designed to help them secure their dream jobs after graduation.

A dedicated Employability Day, aimed at helping second and third year students enhance their skills and job-finding abilities through a range of activities, was attended by a number of significant employers, including NSG Pilkington, Barclays and HavasLynx.

Damien Halligan, Commercial Development Coordinator explains, “The Department of Computing, along with the Careers Service, organise events such as this throughout the year to help students with their career development and help give Edge Hill graduates a competitive edge.”

During the day students undertook a variety of sessions about career planning, graduate employment schemes, interview techniques, creative job searching, social networking and successful CV writing, as well as interactive workshops with potential employers. Feedback received from everyone involved has been overwhelmingly positive.

Damien concludes, “This is just one example of the many activities we organise. We also have mock assessment centres, a student enterprise club and an employer advisory panel which has input into our curriculum to ensure our students are equipped for employment.” Adding, “It is testament to initiatives such as this that Edge Hill is once again the top performing university in the region for employability.”
