A high-flying educator recently returned to campus to share with current Edge Hill students’ exciting opportunities to teach overseas with his employer, ELC (HK) Ltd.

Alumnus, Jon Barnes graduated from the English department of Edge Hill University in 2009 and the following day embarked on a career in Hong Kong as Curriculum Developer for ELC (HK) Ltd.

Jon said: “My role in the company is to design programmes for children from Hong Kong to learn English in a fun environment. The camps are all aimed at enhancing the children’s English and social skills through varied programmes which include cultural activities, academic exchanges, sightseeing and industry visits.

“Students interested in working with us can benefit from flights, accommodation and a living allowance. Hong Kong is a great stepping stone to other parts of the world and many students also explore nearby countries such as China, Malaysia and Cambodia.”

Kath Morgan, Lecturer in English Language, said: “It was great to welcome Jon back to the University and in today’s competitive graduate job market we appreciate the opportunities that he is offering our current students to gain extra work experience teaching overseas.”

Students interested in working abroad with ELC (HK) Ltd can read further information on the camps and how to apply by visiting: www.elcltd.com.
