Former Edge Hill student, Stuart Maconie, this week made his debut as presenter for Inside Out North West on BBC One.

Stuart, English graduate, writer, broadcaster, fell-walker and professional northerner is now the new face for the series which returned this week and looks at stories of interest from the region.

Stuart said: “I was born and raised in the North West of England and, over the last few years, I’ve been delighted that my ‘centre of gravity’ has shifted back to here.

This is my favourite part of England for lots of reasons, the landscape, the people, the culture and the history, and I hope to get a chance to reflect all that on Inside Out.”

The former Sony Broadcaster of the Year now co-presents the Radcliffe and Maconie Show on Radio 2, as well as being a columnist for Radio Times, Cumbria Life and Country Walking and writing for Word magazine and The Mirror. He is currently working on a new book on British cultural history.

You can watch Stuart on Inside Out next Monday 25th October on BBC One at 7.30 pm.
