Presenter and broadcaster Mike Smith descended on Edge Hill?s Ormskirk Campus yesterday before taking to the skies to capture the campus on camera from his specially equipped helicopter.
The aerial shots taken by G-PIXX, Mike Smith?s purpose built flying TV studio, are to be used in Edge Hill?s forthcoming TV advert scheduled for broadcast this summer.
The advert, that features an animated character who takes the viewer on an tour of the Edge Hill experience, is the brain-child of the artistic team at Euro RSCG Riley, who have been commissioned by Edge Hill to produce the TV advert, set for broadcast on Channel 4 and Granada from August to October.
Edge Hill?s Marketing Manager Wendy DeVille is leading this year?s summer promotional campaign with the TV advert a central theme: “We?re really looking forward to seeing the completed animation. This is the first time that a higher education institution has produced an animated ad of this kind and we think that its accessible and humorous style will grab the attention of viewers and certainly get them interested in Edge Hill.”
The ad features a character called Jez who takes the viewer on a tour of the campus, with a range of courses and facilities represented in animation form. The premise is that all Edge Hill has to offers appears to be too good to be true, until the end of the advert when all is revealed with animated views of the campus transforming into real life video footage.
“The ad will encapsulate many of the values of Edge Hill, as a place that embraces innovation in a green campus environment with first rate facilities for the many varied learning programmes available,” said Wendy.
